As more and more people are looking for enhanced entertainment experience at the comfort of home; manufacturers have come up with the home cinema or the home theatre system. It promises to bring theatre-like movie watching experience at home with high quality audio and video output. In fact, home cinema is increasingly becoming a common entertainment item rather than an item of luxury. This gadget affords quality picture display and exceptional sound effects thereby giving theatre experience. Just imagine relaxing your weekend watching your favourite movie in your home cinema with a hot cup of coffee or a chill mug of beer. There are certain things that you can do at home watching a movie but not at a theatre. The comfort, privacy and cosiness afforded at home are just incomparable.
The home cinema system is comprised more than one electronic gadget. A high definition TV with a wide screen is supplemented with a high quality or supersonic sound system with advanced speakers and woofers. The system is complete with a DVD player. Picture clarity and better viewing is achieved with the high definition wide screen TV. You have a variety of options to choose from including LCD TVs and Plasma TVs. The high quality sound effect is supported by the multiple speakers and woofers. The DVD player is then used to play your favourite movie. You also use a CD player, but with limitations.

CANNES – A documentary using small clay figurines to tell the story of how Cambodian filmmaker Rithy Panh’s family perished under the Khmer Rouge regime won the top prize in the second most important competition at the Cannes film festival on Saturday.
L’Image Manquante (The Missing Picture) was among the 18 films that premiered in the Un Certain Regard category that was set up to encourage emerging and innovative filmmakers and run alongside the main competition at the world’s top film festival.
Panh, 49, a prolific filmmaker whose films concentrate on the brutality in Cambodia when an estimated 1.7 million people were killed during the 1975-79 Khmer Rouge regime, said the prize was important for his country.
For a country that has emerged from its difficulties and years of war, it is important to say we are still alive,” Panh told Reuters after receiving his award at a red carpet ceremony in the French Riviera resort.
The jury led by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, whose film Jagten (The Hunt) won Mads Mikkelsen the best actor award at Cannes last year, described the documentary as one of the most powerful films I have seen in many years”.
The runner-up was Omar by Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad, a political thriller involving Palestinians living under Israeli occupation in which a young baker, Omar, is tortured by Israel’s secret police to betray his friends.
Omar, which was shot in the West Bank and Israeli-Arab town of Nazareth last year, received a standing ovation at its premiere as the first film fully funded by the Palestinian cinema industry.
It is the only festival that I think still cares about different films,” said Abu-Assad, known for the 2005 award-winning film Paradise Now, as he received his award.
Another director in Un Certain Regard to get a standing ovation was Iran’s Mohammad Rasoulof who was jailed in 2010 for anti-regime propaganda but came to Cannes this year with Manuscripts Don’t Burn, shot in secret in his home country.
The non-professional actors of La Jaula de Oro (The Golden Cage), a film about three young Guatemalans trying to cross the Mexico-U.S. border from director Diego Quemada-Diez won an award for best cast.

Now available on Satellite TV Pay Per View Cinema, the same day its released on DVD, is the teen comedy 17 Again, starring heartthrob Zac Efron.
In the movie, Efron plays Mike O’Donell, a high school basketball star who seems to have everything a college scholarship, popularity, and a beautiful girlfriend. But all of that changes when his girlfriend Scarlett reveals that shes pregnant. Suddenly all of Mikes aspirations are dashed and we fast forward twenty years later. Mike (now played by Matthew Perry) and Scarlett (Leslie Mann) are separated, and Mike is living with his software genius nerd best friend Ned (Thomas Lennon). We also learn that Mikes relationship with his own teenaged children is nonexistent, and his job is at a standstill. Praying for a change after he is passed up for a promotion, Mike meets a mysterious janitor who transforms him back to his glory days and suddenly Mike is 17 (and played by Zac Efron) again.
Posing as a new student named Mark, Mike infiltrates his childrens school and learns things about them that he never knew. He also visits an unsuspecting Scarlett and rediscovers all the things that initially made him fall in love with her. Of course it should come as little surprise to anyone who watches movies that Mike will eventually learn some things about himself that will make him a better husband, a better father, and appreciate life as he never did before.
I saw this movie initially when it was released to theaters in April and I remember thinking Cute, but I could have waited for DVD. Its chock-full of the stereotypes that weve come to expect in these teen comedies (the jock bully, the trio of cheerleader temptresses, the final showdown at the basketball game with that one chance to make the winning basket), but it still works, mostly due to Efrons charms. Now that he is stepping outside of the Disney mold, Efron is proving himself to be much more than just a pretty face. He shows some surprising dramatic chops here (most notably during the speech he gives to a judge in a courtroom at the end) and I think he has a long career ahead of him as an actor in more serious roles. Leslie Mann is somewhat underused, but she is still good here, and I always appreciate seeing her in comedies (she also appeared in The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and this summer’s Funny People.)
I think Efron fans will be tempted to give this five stars before they even see it, but if other people give it a chance they will see there is a little more than meets the eye in Efrons talent. 17 Again had heart and it wasnt crass, and I think its a movie the whole family can enjoy. Sometimes a little sugary sweetness is actually kind of endearing.

The period often correlated with modern Indian cinema is supposed to have begun in 1970’s when commercial cinema came forth as a means of recreation for the general public and this continues with the contemporary Indian cinema today. Although directors like Govind Nihilani, Shyam Benegal and others kept the flame of artistic movies alive, the commercial cinema surpassed the artistic cinema by leaps and bounds.
The influence of mainstream movie industry kept on increasing in 1980s and 1990s. With the release of movies like Tezaab, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Kayamat se Kayamat Tak and Chandni in 1980’s and Darr, Baazigar and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1990’s, the trend of romantic cinema held ground. Such romantic movies told emotional love stories of young couples who after many adversities get married and stay happily ever after. Some of these romantic movies were very big hits and broke box office records.
The trend of romantic Bollywood movies continued in late 1990’s and early 2000’s with the release of hugely popular movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Interestingly, the art cinema re-emerged by late 1990s as many movies including Traffic Signal, Chandni Bar and Satya received good critic reviews. These modern Indian movies were a refreshing change at the time when uninspired romantics were the order of the day and they proved to be memorable experience for the viewers.
Numerous movies with big budgets including Veer and Mein aur Mrs Khanna were not well received, and surprisingly, DevD and other small budget movies have done well. This has lead to fresh and unique stories being favored among the Bollywood producers and directors.
The present trend in the Indian movie industry is to try new themes and storylines. Movies like Three Idiots and My Name is Khan have experimented with new subjects and have been hugely successful. The modern Hindi movies are bringing in a fresh new experimental wave of cinema, which is being more than welcomed by the Indian cinema audience.

Being able to watch movies is always exciting and watching it at the comfort of your home is always an added plus… almost as great as attending the best cinemas. My friends enjoy Hoyts the most. However, browsers generally google around the web to find the exact website that will enable them to watch movies on the web, rather than going to the cinemas.

Actually, the process is rather simple, and erveryone can watch movies from cinemas as long as they have a computer or laptop and a high speed internet connection. Moreover, apart from movies, a film buff can even watch movies trailers online, surf through the categories of Movie titles, check out the hollywood blockbusters, display timings of nearby cinemas and an online database of movie collection. It’s a Pandora’s Box out there with a myriad of sites to watch movies, with greater options than Hoyts cinemas.
When you watch movies online, as opposed to going to any of the huge offering of cinemas (Hoyts, Sky City Event Cinemas etc…), you will experience the same hHoyts hollywood movie on an HD quality picture and dolby surround audio within the comfort of your home by paying just few bucks, (much less than what you pay at the theatres). Initially, going to the movie halls was the only option people had to enjoy watching movies. But now, things are different. Home cinema systems have made watching movies at home just as much fun as going to movie halls. There are many companies who have launched their home theatre systems. This article provides a comparative analysis of Samsung and LG Home Cinema Systems.
Sales revenue and features
Sony is the most popular brand when it comes to consumer electronics like LCD TV or home theatres. However, its very highly priced. The features and quality of LG and Samsung Home Cinema Systems are comparable as they fall in almost the same price bracket. When you look at the sales revenue, Samsung is presently ahead of LG. Samsung also provides for better and more advanced features as compared to LG home theatre.
When we talk of middle price segment(5.1 channel, 300 to 350), both Samsung and LG home cinema systems have their own positives and negatives .In comparison to Samsung, the sound output of LG is better in almost all models available in LG home theatre. The speaker types that can be used with Samsung home cinema system are multimedia and powered. You can also use an extra pair of rear speakers without having to use any cable. The speaker types in LG are also powered but are enabled with surround system.
Other features (same price segment)
MP3 and CD/DVD players are the player components that are common in both LG and Samsung home theatre systems. But there are other player components that are found in LG home cinema system. These are A/V receiver and radio tuner. Samsung home cinema systems can playback only DVD and DVD audio, whereas LG can also play CD, and DVD-R/RW along with DVD. Playback file formats in both Samsung and LG systems are DivX and MP3. Both the home cinema systems have theatre DSP soundfield.
Be it audio quality or other features, all differ from model to model. Some features are better in LG, while Samsung fares better in others. Therefore, it is hard to say which home cinema system is better. It is just a matter of your personal preferences and the money you are ready to shell out to buy your home cinema system. Both LG and Samsung offer good after sales services. Although Samsung truly boasts of a bigger market share, LG scores better because of better speakers and sound quality.
